I have two weeks of data hinting that the net flow of autogenerated guild funds minus guild repairs is in the red.

I just occasionally wrote down the guild bank balance and checked the money log for non-repair related withdrawals/deposits. The money log sucks and does not go back very far, so there's probably some deposits/withdrawals that I have not accounted for.

If you don't count people giving/taking gold from the bank for things other than repairs (such as goodness of their heart, or raid drops sold for cash), it looks like the guild bank has lost about 20k over the last two weeks.

We've had 4 raids in that time - Two Long Island and Two Jagger.

In order to keep guild-funded repairs self-sustaining, each raid (Jagger, Long Island, and Stoli) should probably donate some gold generated from selling raid loots, when they can. The reason I say raids should donate is that they chew up a lion's share of repair dollars each week. They are the best geared players wiping the most in a short period of time. They are also capable of affording it, since a typical week seems to drop 10-20k worth of auctionable loot.

This is by no means a mandated tax on raid, y'all can choose to donate or not to keep the guild repairs self-sustaining. A good fraction to donate is ~25% of the cash generated from selling raid BOE drops that people in the raid don't need. I think this would come out to enough in the long run to cancel out the red ink.

Obviously guild repairs will have to stop someday if they are not self-sustaining. Blizzard will enforce that :)

keep in mind that 30k has been taken out for raid seeding funds (10k to each raid). Stoli was taken out this past week. don't remember exactly when long islands was taken out -- could have been before you started tracking.

i'd vote for just turning guild repairs off if we can't maintain a positive balance in the GB. it's the simplest solution.

I would say, the data is skewed with Jud's withdrawals, I recall seeing 10k recently so that was Stoli, which adds to the deficit calcs you presented. Let's snapshot the current balance and now that Stoli has started raiding 2 weeks of data should be solid. I agree any raid purples that are sold off from the raids down the road should contribute a percentage of proceeds back to GB. Also realise spending for raid repairs is relational to time as time goes on and assuming same content there should be less repairs as the raids progress and gear up and have bosses on farm, for example 4 weeks into Naxx25 I don't remember having to repair more than once. Jud is there any way to setup guild repairs for only raid night without forcing you to sign on?

@Judrog and Yellow: The data is skewed with both missing deposits and withdrawals, due to the in-game money log sucking. Even if I missed the "stoli 10k withdrawal" (which I am not sure if I included it or not) it is only half of enough gold to negate the red ink.

@Yellow: I like guild repairs always on myself. The entire guild contributed to the guild bank fund and this is an easy way to give something back to the guild.

@Yellow: Raid repair expenses each week is quite variable. While more progressed raids will wipe somewhat less, their gear will cost more to repair. Also, earlier on in the raid, BOEs and stuff the raid can sell will be given to raiders and not sold, so likely the guild bank will be in the red. This is totally fine, expected, and exactly what I would suggest raids did with their drops if they need 'em! Later on in the raid, BOEs and stuff the raid can sell will be sold b/c no one needs it. The free repairs system needs to be kept fueled up somehow, and raids would have an easy time giving enough to make it happen.

@Everyone: Thus I think a beneficial thing to do with raid items that no one in the raid needs is sell it for cash, donate 25% of the sale into a guild bank donation, buy/craft BOEs for raiders if anyone wants anything, and turn the remaining cash into flasks for raiders. As a raider I would feel it to be a fair use of my "raid's" money, and I would appreciate the flasks too.

Updated with a month's worth of data. Still seems to point to a negative-sum balance for having guild repairs enabled all the time.

i believe in one or two more guild ranks the GB will get 10% of looted gold. perhaps this will help balance things out. if not, we can take corrective measures.

That's correct. Next level, we will double our passive, automatic deposits.

The Guild Perk, Cash Flow, no longer prints out text to the Chat Log. Instead, the daily amount deposited is shown in the Guild Vault Money Log. In addition, players can view the weekly contribution in a new window at the bottom of the Money Log.

Yay!

A few more weeks of data. Huge jump in "actual balance" where a major raid BOE sale was dumped into the bank. It looks like the slope might be steeper towards the right side of the graph than the left. Could it be our average gear item level has increased our repair costs more than the cash flow achievement has increased our income?

I think that's probably a big part of it - I noticed last night that my repair bill was a lot higher than I'd seen before - I think I'm at the point where everything but my shoulders are epic. I'm at about 10g/death, and with the work on the new bosses the last couple of weeks (for Jagger, at least) we've had quite a few full-group wipes.
